Significant Harm: the health effects of detention of children
seeking asylum
The Royal Colleges of Paediatrics and
Child Health, General Practitioners and Psychiatrists and the UK
Faculty of Public Health have published a policy statement and
recommendations on the harms to the physical and mental health of
children and young people in the UK who are subjected to
administrative immigration detention.

Harm Intercollegiate policy statement
This is a College project to develop a vision
for the future of Children's Health Services. Two consultation
reports have so far been published: the first identified the major
challenges facing children's services and consulted paediatricians
on possible solutions; the second focuses on workforce issues
and reconfiguration. The final report will be published
in autumn 2009.
Services for Children in Emergency Departments
is an intercollegiate report recently published by RCPCH. It makes
recommendations for the standards of care and treatment of children
and young people in emergency care settings.
The new UK-WHO growth charts for children from birth to 4 years
of age are now available.
RCPCH supports clinicians undertaking child protection work
through a range of resources.
Information on workforce, WTD and the 2007 RCPCH
workforce census.
Currently an area of considerable interest, this section provides
information and resources on reconfiguration and service
improvement.

information sources, events and items of interest. The update is
aimed at anyone interested in Health Services policy issues, and is
likely to be of particular interest to Clinical Directors and those
