Ethics


The Ethics Advisory Committee provides members, fellows and officers of the College with advice, guidance and support on ethical issues relating to children and young people, and the practice of paediatrics.

This advice is particularly concerned with:

  • Ethical principles and the theories which underpin them as they apply to paediatric medicine.
  • The interface of paediatric medicine with common and statute law.
  • Education of medical practitioners of all grades treating children in ethics and law as they apply to children, and promoting provision of relevant educational resources for them e.g. papers, texts, websites.
  • Children's welfare, moral status and rights.
