Defining
the Neonatal Research Agenda
Jointly funded clinical research training fellowship
A clinical research training fellowship will be
awarded jointly by WellChild and the Medical Research Council
(MRC). Post applications are invited from those wishing to make an
impact in the area of children with long term complex health
conditions.
Closing date is 17th September 2010.
Collaborative Research Proposals
The department welcomes the opportunity to work collaboratively
with universities and other institutions. Applicants wishing to
make a joint funding application with the College should consider
the role of the College and how it will enhance the project.
Sufficient time should be allowed for project development and for
internal approval and sign-off prior to submission. Please
note the contribution of the department has to be costed on the
basis of a full economic cost recovery.

Current activities
UK-WHO Growth Charts
Phase two of Department of Health commissioned work to
revise Growth Charts is under way to revise the new low birthweight
chart, to create new 4-20 charts and to evaluate the materials
developed and released in 2009.

Ethics
The Science and Research Department, led by their Vice-President
Prof Neena Modi, are taking on two strands of work, the first is
revising current ethical guidance on research involving infants,
children and young people and the second developing
a strategy to change the perspective of research involving
infants, children and young people.

Developing a Patient Reported Experience Measure (PREM)
The Department of Health have funded the RCPCH to develop and
release a PREM measuring the experience of parents and carers of
children under 7 and the children themselves for 7-15 years when in
an urgent care setting.

National Care Pathways for Children with Allergy
The Department of Health have funded the RCPCH to develop
national care pathways for children with the following allergic
conditions: anaphylaxis, food allergy, asthma/rhinitis, eczema,
uticaria/mastocyotsis/angio-oedema and drug/venom/latex
allergies.
