Successful completion of a full UK paediatric training
programme is marked by the issue of a RITA G by the
Postgraduate Deanery. For entry to the specialist register at
the GMC, the trainee must apply to the College for confirmation of
completion of training (CCT) at
CCT@rcpch.ac.uk.
Trainees are strongly advised to begin the application
process as soon as possible (up to 6 months before CCT date). The
College will assess your application and make a recommendation to
the PMETB.
Various documents are required in support of such a recommendation,
these include:
1. The completed College application form, signed
by:
a) Trainee
b) Regional Adviser
c) Postgraduate Dean
d) And where appropriate, the recognised
Training Adviser for the
relevant CSAC
2. All RITAs issued by the Deanery during the training
programme.
3. A detailed CV, as set out in
example.
4. Original certificate for the award
of*:
a) The MRCPCH examination
b) Or recognised equivalent qualification
* Please note that any original
documents will be returned via Recorded Delivery
5. Original GMC certificate.
6. Supporting documentation regarding any
out-of-programme posts.
This may include:
a) Evidence of prospective approval (Please call
HST office for
clarification)
b) Evidence of satisfactory performance (Please
call HST office for
clarification)
There is a six month period of grace after the end of training
during which a trainee may retain their NTN if a consultant
post has not been secured. One-off extensions beyond the period of
grace may be granted in exceptional circumstances by the
Postgraduate Dean.
Application for NHS consultant posts may be made if the date of
interviews is not more than six months before the expected CCT
date.
