Recruitment into Paediatrics

future signpostThe Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health has a number of ways for doctors to apply to a paediatric training post.

Specialty Training (ST)

The majority of ST posts in paediatrics are recruited to via an annual recruitment round, coordinated by RCPCH. This round seeks to recruit trainees to levels ST1-4.

NTN Grid

The NTN grid is Is a scheme that allows trainees at Level 3 of their training (ST6-8/SpR years 3-5) to have the opportunity to subspecialise in a specific area of paediatrics. Those who complete an approved programme of subspecialist training will be eligible to enter on to the GMC's Specialist Register as a paediatrician (subspecialist).

International Paediatric Training Scheme (IPTS)

The IPTS is a sponsorship scheme particularly geared towards doctors who live and work outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) who wish to undertake further training in paediatrics within the UK.
