Evenings of Evidence

Short on time but keen to keep up to date?  Then our exciting new blended learning evening programme is just what you need!

Over 6, short evening sessions, our expert paediatricians will provide focused updates on the most recent evidence base for clinical practice and examine a number of more difficult cases in depth.

Participants can choose to further enhance their learning by completing specially chosen (and freely available) e-learning sessions, which will provide a good grounding to the issues discussed on the evening.

Pregnancy's arthritis risk

Researchers have claimed that pregnancy can forever change a woman's shoe size, which could lead to arthritis.

Feet grow up to 1cm longer while women are pregnant, possibly because of extra weight and looser joints, and between 60% and 70% of women are affected.

First-time mothers are more susceptible.

Even after labour their feet do not return to their normal size.

Section 75 of the Health and Social Care Act

There has been significant media interest in the publication of Statutory Instrument 257 The National Health Service (Procurement, Patient Choice and Competition) Regulations 2013, which pertains to the requirements placed upon the NHS Commissioning Board and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) when procuring services on behalf of the NHS. This secondary legislation refers to Section 75 of the Health and Social Care Act 2012. The College has deeply held concerns about the implications of this legislation and has written to the government to express these.
