CPD activity approval

Organisations wanting CPD activity approval from the RCPCH can gain this by referring to the CPD activity approval section of the website.

Activity approval is not mandatory but many organisations request it to enable them to place RCPCH CPD credit allocations on their event, activity or course documentation.

START (Specialty Trainee Assessment of Readiness for Tenure, formerly ST7) was developed by a large UK team. There have been two sessions of the assessment thus far, one in November 2012 and another in March 2013.

Revalidation is a new process of regulation for all doctors who practice medicine in the UK. Revalidation was outlined initially in the White Paper: Trust, Assurance and Safety. Doctors must show that they are up to date and fit to practise.

Advisory Appointments Committees (AAC)

What is an AAC?

An Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC) is an interview panel for a consultant or a specialty doctor in an NHS Trust. This system was put in place by parliamentary legislation in 1996.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) must provide an independent representative to sit on any NHS interview for a non-training doctor post in England, Wales or Northern Ireland. The College also supports a similar system, the National Panelists Scheme, in Scotland.
