About the Child Protection Companion
The Child Protection Companion is your handbook on all forms of child abuse, covering the child protection processes across the whole range of medical and social interactions: from examination, to identification, to referral, to court.
About the Companion
With content across 20 chapters, the Child Protection Companion (CPC) describes the essential context and the pathway of child protection cases, beginning with the medical assessment, a discrete chapter on each form of maltreatment, and continuing through to court and training.
It comprises latest evidence as of its publication in 2013, including research, guidance, publications and standards.
Appendices include a medical proforma for you to download and use locally.
The Companion is now available on Paediatric Care Online (PCO UK), an online resource informing decisions at point of care. Included in the membership package for most RCPCH members, or available for an annual subscription for other child health professionals, including social workers, solicitors and barristers - find out how to access PCO UK.
If you are an RCPCH member or a current subscriber, you can continue to access CPC on this website (you will need to sign in).
The Companion is no longer available for subscription through this website.
