Representative of Senior Fellows and Members and Honorary Fellows

Senior Fellows, Senior Members and Honorary Fellows comprise almost 10% of the membership of the College and I expect this proportion to continue to increase in the coming years. You are part of a very experienced group, which the College knows can make valuable contributions to policy and decision making, although at present this is an under-used resource.

Many of you are involved in a wide range of post-retirement activities. These include part-time clinical practice, teaching, research, examining, editing, advising and assessing, as well as charitable fund-raising. Keith Dodd has set an important precedent in this role and I will plan to extend further the ways in which all Senior Members can be as involved in the College as they wish. A good opportunity to debate these matters fully will be at the Senior Members’ Day at the Annual Conference in Glasgow on Wednesday 5 June 2013. Senior Fellows, Senior Members and Honorary Fellows can attend this day for free.
