My week of work experience

Owen, a 14 year old student who has started his GCSE's, blogs about his week of work experience at the College.

I became interested in the College through my dad, who has been working here for over 17 years. My school helped arrange my work experience placement here.

Going into a job for the first time, I didn’t know what to expect. I thought that a job would be stressful, and that you'd need to work without any breaks.

"I get home satisfied with a solid day of working."

But it has been so different than what I'd expected. Everyone I met or worked with has been super helpful and friendly. I get on with what I need to on my own accord without that feeling of pressure to get things done.

My work has kept me busy so far. Although I find myself looking for time to get everything done, I don’t feel like I’ve wasted a moment.

I have worked with many different people on a variety of jobs, and I’ve learnt skills. This has been a great opportunity for me to look into what it’s like to have a job. That's something few people my age know about.

I’ve felt so welcome here. It's strengthened my ideas of what I want to do in the future. Thank you RCPCH and everyone I met there for an amazing experience!
