RCPCH comments on newly launched 'Small Wonders' DVD
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health comments on today's (Tuesday 19 June 2012) launch of Best Beginnings' Small Wonders DVD. The DVD, put together by Best Beginnings in conjunction with more than 200 families and medical experts, contains a series of 12 films for families of sick and premature babies.
Dr Hilary Cass, President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, said:
'As children's doctors, we want to make sure babies who are ill or born prematurely have the best possible start in life. This can only happen through real partnership between neonatal unit staff and parents.
'The Small Wonders DVD really facilitates that close working relationship. By providing first hand experience and practical information to everyone at the front line - families, nurses, therapists and doctors - it helps parents to make that crucial transition from an initial fear about the fragility of their sick vulnerable baby to the stage where they are confident in caring for the emerging personality that is their new son or daughter.'
