RCPCH response - UN Convention on the Rights of the Child - 22 September 2008
Dr Patricia Hamilton, President, Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health:
"The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) has always regarded the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child as a core value for children's services.
The RCPCH is pleased with the Government announcement to lift the remaining UK reservations on the Convention (CRC). This establishes fundamental rights to fair treatment for vulnerable children and young people in the immigration or criminal justice systems.
We welcome the Government's assurance that these children will be treated with compassion and sensitivity."
