British National Formulary for Children (BNFC)
The British National Formulary for Children (BNFC) presents essential practical information to help healthcare professionals prescribe, monitor, supply, and administer medicines for childhood disorders.
BNFC content can be integrated into a local formulary on FormularyComplete.
BNFC content is published yearly in a print edition. The 2015-16 edition is available to purchase from Pharmaceutical Press.
The College and the Neonatal and Paediatric Pharmacists Group (NPPG) form a unique, collaborative committee on paediatric medicines, which inputs into policy issues and supports production of the BNFC.
Paediatric Care Online UK
Launching in January 2016, this online resource will include BNFC content (for those residing in the UK) - alongside 'key practice points' to support health professionals on common signs and symptoms in children and young people.
Information for parents and carers
In partnership with the NPPG and WellChild, the College runs Medicines for Children - information for parents and carers about giving medicines to children.
The BNFC 2015-16 edition will for the first time feature direct links to the Medicines for Children information leaflets. Links will also be present in the new online version of MedicinesComplete and the BNF app, due to be released later this year.
