Specialty recruitment

The RCPCH recruits to paediatric training posts in a number of ways, including specialty training (ST1-4), sub-specialty training (NTN Grid) and the Medical Training Initaitive (Paediatrics) for international doctors.

Specialty Training (ST)

The RCPCH coordinates annual recruitment rounds for paediatric specialty training in the UK.

Apply at ST1 or ST2

Apply at ST3 or ST4

NTN Grid (sub-specialty training)

The NTN grid allows trainees at Level 3 of their training (ST6-8/SpR years 3-5) to sub-specialise in a specific area of paediatrics.

Those who complete an approved programme will be eligible to enter on to the GMC's Specialist Register as a paediatrician (sub-specialist).

Medical Training Initiative (Paediatrics)

MTI(P) is a sponsorship scheme for doctors who live and work outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) to undertake further training in paediatrics in the UK.

Special Interest (SPIN) module

SPIN modules allow UK doctors - Level 3 trainees, staff, associate specialist and specialty (SAS) doctors, consultants and other roles provding expert care - to train and gain experience in an area of special interest or in an aspect(s) of sub-specialty care.
