MRCPCH Clinical and DCH Clinical Examinations
Overview of the examinations
The RCPCH run two Clinical OSCE style examinations. The aim of the MRCPCH Clinical examination is to assess whether candidates have reached the standard in clinical skills expected of a newly appointed Specialist Registrar. This examination is taken once all the written examinations have been successfully completed.

You must have successfully completed the MRCPCH Part 1a (pre October 2012) or MRCPCH Foundation of Practice before sitting the DCH Clinical examination. You may apply to do both at the same time or complete the Foundation of Practice examination first and move on to the DCH Clinical during another application period. Notice regarding the use of Electronic Stethoscopes in MRCPCH and DCH Clinical Examinations – Reasonable Adjustments Section of Application Forms
At July’s Exams Executive it has been decided that for the time being electronic stethoscopes should not be used in the MRCPCH or DCH Clinical examinations unless a candidate has a hearing impairment. Should a candidate have a hearing impairment they must declare this on their application form before the examination takes place and provide evidence of the condition with a medical report in the section named ‘reasonable adjustments’. Please ensure you provide as much information as possible.
Important notice: DCH Clinical Exam application period – April 2014
Due to a scheduling error it will not be possible for applications to be submitted for the scheduled April 2014 DCH Clinical exam until Wednesday 13 November from either DCH Clinical only or provisional DCH Clinical applicants
The RCPCH Examinations Team would like to apologise for this error.
The application period will now be extended for all DCH April 2014 applicants from 13 November to Friday 6 December.
We ask that candidates avoid calling until after 13 November to allow us time to resolve this issue.
Important notice: MRCPCH Clinical Candidate Training Course: India Hyderbad
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health are pleased to announce that a MRCPCH Clinical candidate training course and mock examination will be held in Hyderbad, India on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd January 2014.
The venue will be the Rainbow Hospital for Women and Children, Road No 10, Banjara Hills, Hyderbad 500034.

There will be 24 places in total and placements will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. The application closing date may be closed early if we receive more than 24 applications of interest with fee.
