Education provision - Safeguarding

Learning opportunities and guidance for paediatricians and other child health professionals in the complex and sensitive area of safeguarding.

The College works to protect children from harm by providing doctors with the essential competencies required in their child protection practice. Child protection continues to evolve, with particular changes in knowledge and focus occurring in the last 10 years. As a result there is a necessity for updating and further training in child protection matters.

These courses are not mandatory, but meet the RCPCH quality criteria and standards, and support your continuing professional development (CPD).

2014 competences

Most of our safeguarding programmes have been developed and updated in line with the 2014 competences in the Safeguarding children and young people: Roles and competences for health care staff - Intercollegiate document (ICD) (PDF, 500KB).

Content for e-learning modules 1-3, which we provide in conjunction with e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH), has now been updated in line with the competences in the 2014 ICD.
