MRCPCH Foundation of Practice (FOP) & Theory and Science (TAS) question writing
The questions in the FOP examination are those conditions that are likely to be seen in six to twelve months of hospital, community or primary care practice. FOP also forms the written element of the DCH membership examination. The emphasis of the TAS examination is to test the basic scientific, physiological and pharmacological principles upon which clinical practice is based. For more information on how to write, submit or attend a question writing group, visit the Principal Regional Examiner (PRE) section or email: Anchelle Condor-Brown at RCPCH.
MRCPCH Applied Knowledge in Practice (AKP) question writing
Questions in the AKP Papers 1 and 2 are to test judgment and experience. Each paper contains case history, data interpretation and photographic questions.
Communication and video scenarios
Communication scenario questions test communication with colleagues dealing with professional errors and giving information.
Video scenarios assess skills in dealing with acute cases that cannot be brought in to test.
