Lay representatives
The BPSU has two lay members who sit on the BPSU commitee
Sue Banton, MBE

Sue is founder & director of STEPS, a charity for people with lower limb conditions. She is also a member of:
- INVOLVE, an organisation supporting public involvement in NHS, public health and social care research
- the Medicines for Children Research Network Consumer Involvement Steering Group
- the Implementation Group for the Newborn Infant Physical examination (NIPE) programme
- various joint working groups on limb loss and disability
She became involved with research projects though STEPS and has worked with parents, carers and young people in quantitative and qualitative research projects; both as a member of focus groups and on steering committees. She believes that public accessibility and openness in the research process will help to make research more relevant and effective.
