Public information leaflets

The information leaflets compiled for each BPSU study by the researchers are a tremendous resource for members of the public looking for straightforward and useful information about the rare conditions that the BPSU investigate. 

• These leaflets aim to inform people about the rare conditions that are being studied, and to help raise awareness of them.
• The leaflets are user-friendly and avoid using lots of medical terminology, making them accessible for members of the general public. Often these leaflets are written with the help of members of a parent support group.
• The leaflets can be downloaded from our website by members of the public, patients, parents or doctors. They can be printed off to be put in hospital clinics or distributed.

• Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Chlamydia and Trichomonas infections in children aged under 13 years presenting to secondary care
• Lead in children - raised blood levels
• CNS Inflammatory demyelination
• Conversion disorder
• Genital Herpes in children under 11 years of age presenting to secondary care
• Idiopathic intracranial hypertension
• Intussusception in children under 12 months
• Severe neonatal hypernatraemia
• Sudden unexpected early postnatal collapse
