Overview
John Lorber (1915 - 1996) was Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Sheffield. He made major contributions to the field of medical ethics, childhood tuberculosis and neural tube defects. The prize was established in his memory by his wife.
The Lorber Prize is awarded annually to the author of the best article with paediatric-related content. The articles must:
- have been published within one year prior to the submission closing date of this prize or
- have been accepted for publication
The Academic Board’s adjudicating panel will judge the article on the following:
- its scientific content
- its clinical contribution
- its presentation
Editors of medical journals may also make suggestions to the panel.
You can enter the competition if you are a registered UK medical practitioner working in pre-consultant grades.
How to apply
Requirements
- three printed versions of the article along with the application
- name, address, medical school, qualification date, and UK medical registration date
- joint-authorship candidates must submit an assessment of the contribution the authors made to both the study and the writing
