Sonia Saxena, Professor of Primary Care and Head of Child Health at the School of Public Health, Imperial College London, will be speaking at RCPCH Conference and exhibition 2019 about Harnessing data to improve child health.
Professor Saxena's research aims to improve health and wellbeing of children and reduce the burden of childhood illness through better prevention and primary care. She has research collaborations with several UK partners and internationally with the Global Burden of Disease Project (Seattle) and Universities in North America (Florida), Hong Kong. She has worked with governments in the UK, Europe North America and UAE and as a member of the British Medical Journal’s International Editorial Board to improve the science base for policy and translation of research into practice.
Sonia is committed to widening academic career opportunities in UK universities through institutional and cultural reforms and mentorship. She has led a successful application for a Silver Athena SWAN (Scientific Women’s Academic Network) Award, serves on the UK's National Institutes for Health Research Fellowships Panel and is Vice President of the European Public Health Associations’ Child and Adolescent Health Section.
