Managing perplexing presentations and FII (Level 3) – online course

This one day, expert-led, online course aims to equip paediatricians for an up-to-date approach to the management of perplexing presentations and fabricated and induced illness (FII). This is in line with the RCPCH guidance, updated in March 2021.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Outline the principles underpinning the updated perplexing presentations and FII in children guidance
  • Establish an appropriate pathway in managing cases of perplexing presentations and FII, avoiding common pitfalls during diagnosis and when complications tend to arise
  • Describe the requirements of record keeping needed to be able to build a chronology of events that supports good clinical decision making
  • Recognise the importance of managing and maintaining relationships with families and other professionals to ensure the best outcome for the child
