Officer for Child Protection - volunteering opportunity

The post holder will chair the Child Protection Standing Committee meetings and have strategic oversight of the College’s safeguarding, child protection and looked after children work and be responsible for developing and operationalising policies and standards to support paediatricians across the UK.

  • Lead and develop the College's safeguarding and child protection activity including looked after children (LAC)
  • Accountable to the Vice President for Health Policy and will work closely with the Health Policy team

Eligibility

Fellows, Senior Fellows, Ordinary Members, Senior Members or Associate Members of the College normally resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland.

Role purpose and responsibilities

The post will be cross cutting with respect to College functions, with a remit to work with Health Policy, Public Affairs and Nations Teams, and liaise with the Research, Education, Training and Assessment Divisions to advocate for child rights, offer opinion on the development of standards of care in relation to safeguarding, child protection and LAC, the training of paediatricians and the education of established paediatricians.
