Researcher at workMRes in Child Health – UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH)

This is a research-oriented programme for medical graduates, allied health professionals and science graduates interested in pursuing child health research.

The first programme of its kind in the UK, it provides the opportunity to get research skills and experience and to develop transferable academic and professional skills.

The MRes (equivalent to an MSc by research) comprises one academic year full-time programme starting late September 2017.

It includes four taught modules and an original research project undertaken over the course of nine months. Popular areas of research excellence at the UCL Institute of Child Health include gene-therapy, stem cell research, infection and immunity, childhood development, metabolic defects and cancer. Students are also encouraged to consider projects across other UCL departments.

MSc in Community Child Health – UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH)

This taught Master's is intended for professionals specialising in paediatrics and child health. It includes an independent research project and associated dissertation of 10,000 words.

The programme will help participants develop the public health skills central to community child health practice, building an awareness of current and future developments in community child health and developing the skills necessary to critically appraise practice and policy.

The course is aimed principally at health professionals with experience in child health or public health from countries with developed health services who wish to develop the skills necessary to become a community child health practitioner.

The taught aspect consists of three core modules and five optional modules. The course is also offered as a Postgraduate Diploma/Certificate.
