This event is part of our programme of FRCPCH benefits.
The climate crisis is here, and with it will come the most significant public health challenges of our time. Children and young people will bear the brunt of these effects - so what should paediatricians be doing to advocate for them, whilst also addressing the need for the NHS to urgently and dramatically reduce its own carbon footprint?
RCPCH Climate Change Working Group Advocating for Change Chair, Dr Katie Knight will offer advice for paediatricians on tackling the climate crisis.
Eating disorders are a growing concern in children and young people. Over lockdown, numbers presenting typically and atypically have increased. The demands on paediatric wards have increased alongside overstretched CAMHS resources and waiting lists for treatment.
This session will be led by RCPCH Officer for Child Mental Health, Dr Karen Street, expert on child mental health and eating disorders. She will briefly cover the presentation and physical assessment of a young person with an eating disorder but will mostly concentrate on using case studies to demonstrate and open up discussion around the role of paediatric wards in managing eating disorders.
We look forward to welcoming you.
