FRCPCH/MRCPCH Admissions ceremony - Edinburgh 2020

We look forward to welcoming new Fellows and Members of the RCPCH, and their guests, at this special event. The ceremony takes place in the beautiful Main Hall, followed by an afternoon tea and drinks reception.

Who is invited

This ceremony is open only to those who are due to become Fellows or Ordinary Members of the College between October 2019 and January 2020. If you are unsure which month your membership starts, or have other questions about your membership, please contact our Member Services team on


We will email all eligible attendees an invitation with detailed instructions in the first week of the month that their membership starts.

For example, if your membership starts in June you will receive your invitation in the first week of June. Please do not contact us before this time.

Guest tickets

New Members and Fellows are welcome to bring up to three family and friends as paid guests. There is a maximum of three guests per Member or Fellow.

  • Adults - £40
  • Children (6 years and over) - £20
  • Children under 6 years may attend the ceremony, though restrictions may apply.

We will open registration from 12:00 to stagger queues. If you are bringing your membership certificate with you on the day we advise you arrive early to allow enough time.

We will provide water and juice, and there is limited seating.

Ceremony in the Main Hall

Everyone will be called through to the hall at 14.15. Fellows and Members have assigned seating which is clearly signposted and will be guided to their seats by staff. Guests have free seating within the areas not assigned or marked as reserved. Everyone must be seated by 14:25. 

The ceremony starts at 14:30 and will finish at about 16:30.

Afternoon tea with a drinks reception

Time to celebrate! Join us to toast your admission to the College with your friends and families. Network with other Members and Fellows, as well as Officers and staff from the College. 

Photography service

Success Photography provides official photography and they will be available before and after the ceremony, from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 16:30 to 17:30. 

Members and Fellows will also be photographed while being presented with their certificate on stage.
