Have your say in the review of Council

In line with best practice, we have commissioned an independent review of the efficiency and effectiveness of the RCPCH Council. Members’ views are vitally important to this review, and we are keen to hear from as many as possible, both from those who reside in the UK and those who are overseas.

We are keen to hear your views and there is an opportunity to arrange a 1:1 conversation with at the Centre for Governance & Scrutiny.

Council is our members’ representative body for the College, and is chaired by the President. This important group includes representation from the English regions, the devolved nations and demographic sections of RCPCH members, including trainees, SAS (Staff, Associate Specialist and Specialty) doctors, academics and senior members. Council has worked exceptionally hard during the past year to ensure that we tackle the pandemic issues clearly, and have developed and produced a new three-year strategy for the College. We need to ensure that it is working as well as it can for our members, and it is best practice to review governance arrangements regularly.

Centre for Governance and Scrutiny

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) has commissioned an external review of the effectiveness and efficiency of its Council, the main representative body drawn from the membership. The Centre for Governance and Scrutiny (CfGS) is ideally placed to deliver this review as the leading national body dedicated to the principles and practice of good governance. CfGS is an independent charity, and their impartiality, breadth of experience, and value-based approach is able to offer the level of experience, expertise and resources to design and manage a comprehensive review which will provide an authoritative assessment based on evidence and expert analysis - with clear pathways for improvement where necessary.

To share your views and arrange a confidential 1:1 conversation of about 30 minutes please contact ian.parry@cfgs.org.uk at the Centre for Governance & Scrutiny by 15 December 2021.
