The College is pleased to announce that six candidates have been nominated to be our next Chair of the Trainees' Committee. Our Trainees’ Committee forms a vital part of our work, representing trainee views on issues of service and training along with our wider work in paediatrics and child health.
The Chair will also sit as the Trainee Representative on our Executive Committee and College Council, and will represent the College at meetings with other medical organisations including the Academy of the Medical Royal Colleges, Health Education England, the Department of Health and the GMC.
We are inviting all UK paediatrics trainees who are on a CCT programme and registered with the RCPCH to vote for their Chair of the Trainees' Committee. Voting opens today and closes at midday on Monday 8 February 2021. Ballot information will be sent to eligible members.
Current Chair of the Trainees' Committee, Dr Hannah Jacob, says: “It has been an incredibly busy time for training and trainees, with the last few months having been particularly tumultuous. I have been so lucky to work with an amazing bunch of trainees on the committee – a dedicated, passionate and innovative group who have consistently championed the cause of trainees and worked tirelessly to make training better around the UK.
"It’s wonderful to see such a strong, diverse set of candidates put forward to be our next Chair. I wish them all the best of luck!”
The six candidates are:
- Dr Grace Bradley
- Dr Sian Copley
- Dr Fizz Izagaren
- Dr Laura Kelly
- Dr Rashmi Mehta
- Dr Shaarna Shanmugavadivel
To help trainees cast their vote, written statements from each candidate are available here (log in required).
