Child Protection Evidence is a resource available for clinicians across the UK and internationally to inform clinical practice, child protection procedures and professional and expert opinion in the legal system. This systematic review evaluates the literature on early years neglect.
In 2018 we responded to the Department for Education's call for evidence on the educational outcomes for children of help and protection. We highlighted the need for collaboration between schools, social care and paediatrics to ensure children’s needs are being met across all sectors.
In 2018 we responded to the Science and Technology Committee's inquiry into energy drinks. We welcome the increased scrutiny on food and beverages that have low or no nutritional or therapeutic value, contain potentially harmful ingredients and are heavily marketed to children and young people.
In 2018, we responded to the Health and Social Care Select Committee’s inquiry into the first 1,000 days of life. We support efforts to improve the first 1,000 days, recognising how important they are for children’s health and development in later life.
In 2017 we responded to the Children, Young People and Education Committee’s consultation on the First 1,000 Days. We welcome the commitment to focus on infants and very young children, as healthy children are more likely to become healthy adults.
In 2018 we responded to the visit by the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights in the UK. Our submission focused on certain questions asked, including the extent of child poverty in the UK and how its evolved, the implications and whether government response has been effective.
