We have made the data files from each audit year of the NNAP available for you to download below. They are also available on data.gov.uk.
Data from the NNAP need careful interpretation. They should not be considered in isolation when assessing standards of care. To help you interpret the data, please see our latest annual report and our guides to the NNAP measures for the relevant year.

National Clinical Audit Benchmarking (NCAB) project
NCAB provides a visual snapshot of individual Trust audit data set against individual national benchmarks. It is a collaboration between HQIP and CQC, which aims to enhance the way inspectors, medical directors, local clinical audit teams and others engage, interact with and share clinical audit data.
NNAP submit results for English and Welsh units to this project annually.
Data flow in the NNAP
In the Downloads section below you will be able to view:
- A diagram detailing the updated NNAP data flow for England and Wales, which came into effect on 1 April 2021.
- Copies of the Health Research Authority Confidentiality Advisory Group (CAG) letters of support for the updated NNAP data flow and required amendments.
NNAP data protection impact assessment
The NNAP conducts data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) to help ensure that the project is compliant with GDPR and UK data protection legislation. You can download a current version of the NNAP DPIA below, which covers the updated NNAP data flow below.
