Research funding opportunities

To develop new or improved simple for patients, quick, inexpensive, minimally-invasive, safe and accurate diagnostic products/approaches which can differentiate between lung conditions, phenotypes of individual lung conditions and/or causes of exacerbations (e.g. to reduce exacerbations and the winter NHS burden).

These awards aim to enable world-class research teams to tackle challenges in priority areas of asthma research.

Provides funding for translational research projects in one of their three priority areas: Acquired Brain and Spinal Cord Injury, Neuro-oncology, Headache and Facial Pain.

Support clinical trials and other clinical studies relevant to the cardiovascular system.

Designed to encourage scientists from outside traditional cardiovascular biology to engage in cardiovascular research and bring novel expertise to the field, and to develop new technologies, models or methodologies. Examples of such collaborations includes cooperatives between biologists and engineers, physicists, mathematicians etc.

Special project grants to provide funding for basic or applied clinical research relevant to the cardiovascular system.

Population Research Project Awards provide support for focused research proposals centred on key questions in population research.

Supports research projects that address improved treatment for and survival from childhood and young person cancer and into improved quality of ongoing life.

Provides support for high quality, diabetes-related research. Applications should normally be for hypothesis-driven projects.

Enables graduate healthcare professionals to work towards a PhD or MD in diabetes and develop a career in research.
