Research funding opportunities

Smaller awards designed to allow for the exploration of original ideas in inherently novel priority asthma research areas and to stimulate innovation in asthma science.

These awards aim to enable world-class research teams to tackle challenges in priority areas of asthma research.

Designed to identify and invest in a new generation of asthma superstar scientists. 

Provides funding to encourage and further medical research in a variety of areas. Applications are invited from doctors and research scientists and can be for either research in progress or prospective research.

Funding is available to support a PhD student performing research in one or more of the following priority areas: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), children’s lung disease and bronchiectasis.

To fund smaller research projects with direct benefit to patients, or to fund 'proof of concept' studies that facilitate larger studies.

A range of award types offered to support clinical, laboratory-based and/or epidemiological research to tackle lung disease.

Provides financial support for the collection of pilot or proof-of-concept data. Applications are invited from clinician and scientist investigators, including Academic Clinical Lecturers, based at a UK university or hospital planning research studies on any topic within paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.

Supports preliminary research that will contribute to a subsequent larger research grant proposal. Projects may be stand-alone or linked to one or more existing studies.

Applications from PhD students to cover project consumables costs in a research project in liver disease in children and young people.
