Research funding opportunities

Provides funding to encourage and further medical research in a variety of areas. Applications are invited from doctors and research scientists and can be for either research in progress or prospective research.

Funds research into malignant and benign colorectal disease and /or research into Bowel Disease (with a preference for colorectal cancer).

Area of interest is lower GI/ bowel research in malignant and non-malignant, diagnostic or treatment studies or device/intervention development for which future translation to tangible patient benefit can be anticipated.

Funds fellowships leading to the award of PhD or MD to further the goals of VISION 2020.

Grants are offered for research projects that further the goals of ‘VISION 2020: The Right to Sight’. Research grants are available to clinicians, scientists or epidemiologists for 'pump-priming' to develop their research ideas and generate pilot data to facilitate a future application for a substantial grant or to provide funding for a non-clinical PhD or DrPH studentship.

These aim to build research links between hospitals and universities in developing countries and UK universities or NHS Trusts, with the goal of building research capacity. Awarded to enable applicants from developing countries with a colleague or mentor in the UK to work together to develop a research project.

Provides financial support for the collection of pilot or proof-of-concept data. Applications are invited from clinician and scientist investigators, including Academic Clinical Lecturers, based at a UK university or hospital planning research studies on any topic within paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.

Funds medical and scientific research aimed at understanding, treating and seeking a cure for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and in particular but not limited to, the potential to help children and young people with this condition.

Specifically to enable CICRA funded Research Fellows, and others in training in the area of Paediatric IBD, to support their attendance at UK and international scientific/educational congresses, and if appropriate IBD related training courses.
