MOOCs (massive open online courses), including FOAM (free online access meducation), are becoming more popular as they are free and accessible. They also provide interactive activities such as user forums to build a learning community.

RCPCH recognises that the quality of these courses varies. As a learner, you should consider the value to your own learning and development.

MOOCs may contribute to ‘personal’ CPD, based on personal reflection on learning value and application to practice. If MOOCS are used within interactive group learning,  the ‘internal’ or ‘external’ categories may be more appropriate.
