MRCPCH Foundation of Practice (FOP), Theory and Science (TAS) and Applied Knowledge in Practice (AKP)

The FOP, TAS and AKP examination papers are set by the Vice Chairs led by the Chair for each Board.

FOP Chair: Dr Jacob Samuel
TAS Chair: Dr Huw Thomas
AKP Chair: Dr Martin Hewitt

All three examinations are overseen by Dr Will Carroll, Chair of Theory Examinations.

The Examination Boards have two main complimentary functions; to make modifications to the questions for the FOP, TAS and AKP examinations and secondly, to consider syllabus issues relating to paediatrics and general medicine.

The Vice Chairs are involved in all aspects of the exam setting process, including selecting questions for the exam diets, ensuring questions are kept up-to-date, dealing with syllabus issues, approving new questions to be added to the question bank, and proofreading. Vice Chairs oversee groups of Board members for each examination at the Board meetings.
