Events in Wales

Find out about the RCPCH Wales and Welsh Paediatric Society (WPS) annual events - and other Wales events for paediatrics and child health professionals.

St David's Day Conference 2018 round

Over 75 delegates attended our annual event on 22 February in Cardiff.

"Ethics through the lifespan" provided a unique opportunity to explore some of the less typical ethical issues faced in paediatrics including research in neonatal care, parental and parental authority, case study based discussions of children with an antenatal diagnosis of a life limiting condition, who decides the value of a short life and key legal and ethical guidelines relating to the treatment of sick children.

Our knowledgeable guest speakers included Professor Neena Modi, President of the RCPCH, Dr Richard Hain, Consultant and Lead Clinician in Palliative Medicine in Wales, Professor Angus Clarke, Clinical Professor, Institute of Medical Genetics, Cardiff University and Dr Rim Al-Samsam, Consultant in paediatric critical care medicine, Cardiff & Vale UHB.

The range of ethical issues highlighted the challenges faced by all paediatricians and the complex discussions were thought provoking and engaging.

We're keen this event continues to be a sucess so please do get in touch with Lisa Roberts if you've got ideas for future themes.
