Important update for users of stand-alone Twinkle (updated August 13, 2012)

After several discussions with existing stand-alone Twinkle sites, Hicom has agreed to make specification changes to the stand-alone system which will enable those sites to export data to the NPDA in the new format. Please note however that any new fields included in the revised NPDA dataset for 2010/11 will be output as a blank.

Hicom see this as a temporary measure and they will not be able to provide development to add in any new fields to the stand-alone database, so the only changes will be to the NPDA extract.  Hicome hope to be in a position to deliver this change by the end of August, to enable you to extract your data before 28 September.

If you wish to go ahead and request this change, there will be a charge of £125 +VAT, which Hicom will offset against any future upgrade to Twinkle.NET (within the next 12 months).

For further details please contact Shelly Davies, Account Manager for Hicom: Shelly.Davies@hicom.co.uk

What are the alternative ways of submitting data?

Twinkle users should be aware that the following alternative modes of submission are also available:

  • Submit data manually by completing the CSV template which can be downloaded directly from the RCPCH Electronic Web Platform
  • Submit data manually by using the online Questionnaire feature of the Electronic Web Platform.  For full instuctions on how to do this, please refer to the NPDA User Guide (PDF, 966kb).

Updated NPDA dataset for 2011/12

We are pleased to announce that the updated NPDA dataset (PDF, 62KB) developed for the 2011/12 audit has received full approval from the National Information Governance Board (NIGB).

Many of the data items are similar to those used in previous years; however this year there is additional information required about thyroid and coeliac disease screening, a fuller lipid profile and information about every inpatient stay related to diabetes.
