Yincent is a Paediatric Nephrologist with an interest in Quality Improvement. He was born in Cornwall, spent time in Hong Kong, and went to Edinburgh Medical School. He trained in Sheffield, South East Scotland, Newcastle and Great Ormond Street London before returning to the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle in 2008.
Before becoming Vice President, he held various roles. In education as MRCPCH senior examiner and Deputy Head of School for the North East. He represented members as Officer for the North (2016-9). He has an interest in medication safety and co-chaired the RCPCH-NPPG Medicines committee as well as board member for Medicines for Children. He was the Secretary of the British Association for Paediatric Nephrology (2016-20) and worked with charity groups to produce accessible patient information for both adults and children. He has been involved in various initiatives e.g. KidzMed project to teach children to swallow tablets, RCPCH Grand Rounds, RCPCH Safety e-bulletin, the Ready Steady Go Hello charity to smoothen the gap between paediatric and adult care, and is vice-chair of his hospital clinical ethics advisory group.
He was an early adopter of social media and was Archives of Disease in Childhood (ADC) SoMe editor, and acquired a new interest in medical history as ADC celebrated its centenary.
