Introduction

The James Spence Medal is the highest honour awarded by the RCPCH, and is awarded for outstanding contributions to the advancement of knowledge and understanding in paediatrics and child health.

Nominations for the James Spence Medal can only be nominated and seconded by RCPCH members (any membership category and location).

Please submit your nomination without the nominee's knowledge. 

Nominations are now open for 2027, and the closing date is Friday 15 May 2026. (Nominations for 2026 closed in June 2025).
