Paediatric Awards For Training Achievements (PAFTA)

The national PAFTA recognise the very best in paediatric training in the UK annually. The College oversees the national PAFTA process to award: Junior Trainee (ST 1-3), Senior Trainee (ST 4-7) and Educational Supervisor. The winners from each category are presented with their PAFTA in an awards ceremony at RCPCH Conference.

Submissions to the national PAFTA are currently closed and will reopen later this year.

The PAFTA process has two parts:

  • The regional PAFTA process is run by deaneries/schools and anyone from that region can nominate someone for any of the categories available in their region. Please contact your deanery/school if you would like to nominate someone for the regional PAFTA.
  • The national PAFTA process is run by RCPCH and accepts applications of regional winners only. These applications are accepted exclusively from Heads of Schools and Trainees Committee Regional Representatives.

Each deanery across the UK may submit one regional winner in each of the three award categories: Junior Trainee, Senior Trainee and Educational Supervisor.

The regional winners are entered into the national process run by the College. The submitted applications for regional winners are scored by two panels in the national judging process: National Panel and RCPCH &Us Panel.
