In 2023, we secured a grant from the Clean Air Fund, enabling us to expand our work on climate change and focus on one of its most pervasive and immediate threats, air pollution.
About the Clean Air Fund
"We’re a philanthropic initiative tackling global air pollution. We work with governments, funders, businesses and campaigners to deliver clean air for all as fast as possible."
The Clean Air Fund has made a significant impact globally by supporting the establishment of clean air zones, influencing policies across Europe, and driving private sector action to reduce air pollution. Their initiatives have over £135 million for air quality projects, supported 234 global projects, and expanded data monitoring, significantly increasing public access to air quality information in many pollution-affected communities.

About the RCPCH Clean Air Fund Partnership
The project places child health and young voices at the centre of efforts to tackle air pollution. By equipping child health professionals in the UK and globally with the tools to advocate for policy change, we aim to make clean air a priority in health and environmental policy.
As air pollution is expected to become a leading cause of child mortality by 2050, we are working to ensure decision-makers recognise clean air as a vital child health and rights issue. Through advocacy, education, and research, we elevate the voices of child health professionals, help them communicate air quality health risks, and amplify children and young people’s own voices on this topic, particularly those in most affected communities.
Our Theory of Change
In March 2023, we undertook a theory of change to help us visualise and understand the problem, what we are trying to achieve, why and how:
