The Vice President for Education & Workforce is a crucial role within the College’s senior elected team. It works with fellow senior officers, clinical officers and staff to deliver the College’s strategy around educational resources, national conferences, medical recruitment approaches, lifelong careers and workforce advocacy. Vasanta started her role 1 July 2026.
Professor Steve Turner, RCPCH President welcomes Vasanta, our new VP for Training and Assessment:
Vasanta has recently demitted as our Exams Officer and has also been Head of School so brings all the right experience with her to this post and has enthusiasm in abundance. I’d also like to express me thanks to the other applicant. As a membership organisation we are lucky to have so many members who want to share their experience, skills and time with our College.
Steve also wishes farewell to Cathryn:
It has been a true pleasure to have had the opportunity to work alongside Cathryn for the last five years. Cathryn’s term started five years ago and in addition to navigating a course for Training and Assessment as we emerged from the pandemic, Cathryn’s wise counsel, energy and time has been key to successful creation, launch and establishment of our Progress + syllabus and also our college’s Assessment review.
As Vice President Cathryn also has a key role in shaping the College’s wider strategy and response to issues outside of Training and Assessment. On behalf of fellow officers and members I am very grateful for everything Cathryn has done for our college and wish her the very best in her next venture.

It is a very special honour to be given the opportunity to work with you all to enhance the training programme by supporting PGDiT and their trainers.
It is an exciting time as we introduce and embed the new changes to the assessments, both work-based and Examinations, to align with the Progress + curriculum. Looking forward to great times ahead together.
