New family activity programme launched by ukactive

The RCPCH is collaborating with ukactive, EdComs, Places for People Homes and Liverpool John Moores University in a newly funded Sport England programme.

The Sport England programme, which is being led by ukactive, is aimed at increasing physical activity for children and families.

The team will focus on families living in selected areas of Hull and will work with national and local partners to bring together and galvanise ecosystems to create a replicable model that builds a national network of cities and towns. This initiative is designed to engage, enable and empower whole communities to connect with their local facilities and open spaces and bring together families around the fun of physical activity.

In a joint statement from the coalition, it said:

Our new programme aims to make family activity the beating heart of Hull again.

By combining our expertise and knowledge of family health, physical activity and community engagement, we can make sure families have more ways to be active together in their area.

New, fun activities can help to make people happier and healthier, build relationships, and breathe new life into community facilities, parks and open spaces.
