By working together to educate children, families and communities, amplify messaging on health risks and influence policymakers, we can be a powerful force to safeguard the health of future generations.

Clean Air Day 2025
Clean Air Day is the UK’s largest air pollution campaign, held annually on the third Thursday of June. Founded by Global Action Plan in 2017, Clean Air Day raises awareness about air pollution and its health impacts and encourages action to improve air quality.
This year, we’ll be marking Clean Air 2025 by launching our Clean Air Clinics report, which reviews innovative clean air clinics working to tackle environmental health inequalities.
A central theme of this year’s Clean Air Day is the call for the UK government to adopt the World Health Organisation's (WHO) air quality targets into law. This is a shared objective among many organisations participating in the day, all advocating for stronger air quality standards to protect public health.
We’ll be participating in and promoting several Clean Air Day activities from other organisations:
Global Action Plan and Great Ormond Street Hospital
Global Action Plan and Great Ormond Street Hospital are collaborating to coordinate a walk with healthcare professionals, campaigners, parents, and children. The walk will take place on the morning of Clean Air Day, from the hospital to Parliament Square, where participants will hand over their asks to policymakers. We are inviting policymakers to meet us at midday in Parliament Square to receive the asks, engage with healthcare professionals and activists, and take photos. Health professionals, patient groups, and clean air advocates are all welcome to join the walk. If you are interested and would like further details, please email us at:cleanair@rcpch.ac.uk
Global Action Plan
Global Action is running a public petition on clean air, calling for the adoption of World Health Organisation air quality targets in UK law. This will help ensure cleaner air for all and protect child health. You can show your support by signing and sharing this petition.
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
These trusts are running a staff competition focused on visualising air pollution, continuing anti-idling engagement on-site, with a second round of awareness surveys on Clean Air Day and drafting a letter to support the adoption of World Health Organisation air quality targets.
UK Clean Air Network
Open to RCPCH members and child health professionals working in the UK, the network is focused on collaboration, shared purpose and action on both a local and national level.
When you join the network, you will advocate for clean air and climate action to safeguard children’s health. We will invite you to join training sessions to explore the impact of air pollution. This will enable you to disseminate resources within your local networks and educate patients and caregivers about air pollution.
Key activities for network members include:
- Undertake training sessions and attend webinars
- Share and amplify resources and educational materials with colleagues and patients
- Participate in knowledge-sharing at local, trust, regional and national levels
