The report highlights continued strong engagement from paediatricians across England and Wales. In England, paediatrics was the third most applied-for specialty, with 195 applications submitted and 57 awards granted, accounting for 12% of all applications despite paediatricians representing only 7.5% of the consultant workforce. In Wales, paediatrics was the second most applied-for specialty, accounting for 16.9% of applications while representing 7.8% of the consultant workforce. Many congratulations to all the awardees!
Compared with 2024, the number of paediatric applications more than doubled, demonstrating growing interest in the scheme and the significant contribution of paediatricians to improving outcomes for children and young people.
