As part of the RCPCH’s core participant status, the College’s current President, Professor Steve Turner (in post since March 2024), and immediate past President, Dr Camilla Kingdon (in post from May 2021 to March 2024), will be providing evidence to the Thirlwall Inquiry this week.

RCPCH conducted a service review of the Countess of Chester hospital’s neonatal service in September 2016. At the time of the review, Lucy Letby had been redeployed from clinical duties and was no longer working on the neonatal unit.

The College extends its sympathies to parents and wider family members whose children were killed or harmed during 2015 and 2016.

The College is fully committed to ensuring that lessons are learned, both for the College and wider healthcare systems across the UK.
