RCPCH conducted a service review of the Countess of Chester hospital’s neonatal service in September 2016. At the time of the review, Lucy Letby had been redeployed from clinical duties and was no longer working on the neonatal unit.

The previous Head of Invited Reviews will provide evidence to the Thirlwall Inquiry on 7 November 2024. Members of the 2016 invited review team will also provide evidence to the Inquiry on 11 November 2024.

The RCPCH extends its sympathies to parents and wider family members whose children were killed or harmed between June 2015 and June 2016.

As a core participant in the Thirlwall Inquiry and the College is fully committed to ensuring that lessons are learned, both for the College and wider healthcare systems across the UK.

Further information can be found on the Inquiry’s website.
