Professor Russell Viner takes up role as RCPCH President

Professor Viner, an academic paediatrician and adolescent physician at the UCL Institute of Child Health in London, has offically taken up the position of RCPCH President. Russell works clinically in paediatric and adolescent diabetes at University College Hospital.

In an article published in the British Medical Journal, Professor Viner says the health and prosperity of the nation depends on investment in child health - arguing that the current generation is 'overlooked' and it's now 'time to act.'

In his first message from the President in RCPCH's Focus newsletter due out soon, Professor Viner sets out his priorities for his presidency, including re-examining the College's offer to members, supporting paediatricians across their professional lives - from their first steps into training through to pre-retirement and facing the challenges in the modern health services including stretched resources, rota gaps and increasing clinical demands.
