- Fee: £30
Note This course starts at 08:30 British Summer Time.
As one of the theory exams required for RCPCH membership and the theory exam required for the Diploma in Child Health qualification, success in the Foundation of Practice (FOP) exam is important to many. However, it can be particularly challenging for overseas candidates who may not have experience of working in the NHS, which forms the basis of the clinical practice assessed in this exam.
Therefore, along with the key resources page on Compass, RCPCH is delighted to be working with Dr Mithilesh Lal and Dr Priya Kumar to provide this online workshop, offering additional support to overseas candidates.
The speakers will work through a number of scenarios focused on areas known to be challenging to overseas candidates, giving tips about how to approach them in the context of UK clinical practice. They will also give advice about how to approach revising for the exam. There will be opportunities for you to participate throughout.
Prepare for the workshop Please make sure you look at the key resources page on Compass, including the videos/presentation from Dr Lal and Dr Kumar beforehand so that you can get the most out of this online workshop.
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- understand which topics most overseas candidates find difficult and know how to tackle these in the exam
- understand more about the management of a range of paediatric conditions in the UK healthcare system
- know how to approach your ongoing revision for the exam.
- Dr Mithilesh Lal, Consultant Neonatologist, South Tees Foundation NHS Trust and FOP Chair
- Dr Priya Kumar, Consultant Paediatrician, London North West University Healthcare Trust
