They discuss practical approaches to conversations with parents and young people about vaccination, highlighting how clinicians can address concerns with confidence and apply the same principles used in other areas of child health care. The session also considers the role of opportunistic vaccination and how healthcare professionals can help improve vaccine uptake in everyday practice.

Speakers
Professor Helen Bedford, Professor of Children’s Health, UCL GOS ICH.
Helen has a long track record of conducting research into the determinants of childhood vaccination. She is also involved in immunisation training for health care professionals.
Dr David Elliman, Community Paediatrician, GOSH.
David’s area of interest is preventative child health, particularly vaccination and screening. He is involved in training healthcare professionals about vaccination and writes on the topic.
